We live in a country today where we always have something to eat. When we are hungry or bored we can go to our fridge or pantry and find an abundance of foods. We can also go to a McDonalds for food, where the average distance from one to another is only 20 miles and you are never farther than 107 miles from one. We can even get something to eat for a mere dollar or less at most fast food restaurants. We take food for granted in America. We tend to expect to get it from someone or somewhere whenever we need or want it. This causes us to lose sight of the those in developing countries waiting on that one meal a day and the 842 million people in the world who go hungry without enough to eat. According to The Washington Post, American wastes over $165 billion worth of food every year, while The United Nations said it costs only $30 billion to solve this crisis. Instead of wasting this $165 billion worth of food each year we can donate it to those who are malnourished and feed the hungry around the world.
