What is Cubism?Cubism is an abstract visual art style from the early twentieth century. Cubism photographs are composed of geometric shapes in a collage-like pattern. Pablo Picasso is most known for the creation of Cubism with his paintings greatly amplifying the Cubism art style. Georges Braque is also credited for the creation of Cubism with the help of Picasso in Paris between 1907 and 1914. ExamplesIdeasA few of my ideas for my Cubism project are to take photographs of flowers, musical instruments, a landscape, a portrait of someone, or a building. My Cubism ProjectWhat is Space?Positive space is the foreground of the photograph or the "light," while negative space is the background of the photograph or the "dark." Positive space is the object in the frame and negative space is the area around and between the object. Negative space can bring definition to a photograph without taking away from the object in the photograph. An easy way to tell if a photograph has a lot of space would be if it was composed of mostly background and could easily be made into a transparent photograph. Positive and negative space photographs should be composed of just about a 1:4 ratio of light to dark to make them look visually appealing and interesting. Space plays a bigger role in photography than you might think, for it can make or break a photograph. ExamplesIndoorOutdoor |
